NIT, the New Industrial Township, was planned from 1949 to house families displaced by Partition. Its numbered blocks are among the oldest residential parts of the city, and many houses here have been extended floor by floor over the decades since.
That changes where an interior project starts. Before new finishes go in, it is worth knowing what the building can carry: the condition of the slab and walls, where water is getting in, and whether the wiring and plumbing are worth keeping.
